Seems like a great lock. However mounting mechanism relies on two PLASTIC SCREWS! They have already begun to wear, so good luck if you need to make adjustments later on.
Also zero instructions are included so you are left on your own when installing the thing.

Robust defence

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality
Cons: Heavy
A little surprised by the size but it fits the bike and wheel with no drama. Seems rugged enough to work consistently and the mud and the rain have not gummed the mechanism. Fitting the key has been a little fiddly when it is cold but that is more my unfamiliarity with the mechanism and fat fingers on my behalf. ;-) I wouldn't have a problem buying similar again but I might want to go for something that bolts to the frame instead of the ties that it currently has.

Very good lock. Maybe only con is its weight, but you have to sacrifice something for the safety. I advise using it with Amparo cable or chain (I bought both to use on 2 family bikes) in the areas with risk of bike being carried away even with rear wheel locked. Locks and all parts are of good quality. Installation took me around 15 minutes. As mentioned by others, this won't be lock for your road bike, but rather for daily commuting bike.

Ideal utility bike lock
PostedJune 12, 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality
I was so pleased by my earlier purchase of the Abus Protecta frame fitting lock and chain (2006) that I bought this additional one to fit on my son's Pinnacle. This is an ideal lock for a commuter/utility bike which you need to lock frequently, as you'll never leave home without it. The key remains in the lock until you engage the lock, so you'll never leave that behind either. It is fairly secure especially when used with the integrated chain (an optional extra). Not the lock for your road bike or MTB though, as it is a relatively heavy fixture.

Speaking to a friend who recommended this product as it fooled a professional bike theft gang. Two other bikes got stolen more or less in front of this group who stopped in a cafe for coffee.
The gang used bolt cutters - but this lock stumped the thieves - they did cut through the normal locks but did not know how to deal with this - they even tried to remove the brakes - but threw this bike on the floor in frustration.
The lock clamps onto the rear wheel and the bar goes through the spokes - ideal to use in addition to a normal bike lock. A bit heavy for my road bike but OK for my commuting bike which I often leave parked up in various places - work, shopping etc.
