Great smooth and comfortable

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Looks great
I had been looking to get into road biking for a while and decided to get a bike from evans through cycle 2 work scheme. After doing research I decided I wanted a cannondale with shimano 105 gears, i also wanted a frame that would be comfortable for a beginner. So after much searching on the evans website this was the model I wanted. I travelled up to Brighton where the closest evans store is and saw this bike as soon as I walked in, it looked great, the alloy looks are superb. The guy in the shop recommended a 51 frame, I'm a little over 5"7.
Have now done about 50 miles on the bike now and it is an extremely comfortable ride, with more of an upright sitting position than the racier style frames, however if you want to go fast this bike will respond nicely. I have adjusted the saddle slightly to my needs and have hopefully achieved my ideal settings. The gear changes are super smooth, although you do need a large push of the lever for the front gear change (I don't think you need the smaller front cassette unless doing hills).
All in all I am very happy I chose this bike, it's comfortable for a beginner but has potential to be fast if that's what you want. The frame is very responsive and the gears are smooth and it looks great. The only issue I have had is getting used to clipping in and out of spd pedals (have wiped out once!) but this is all part of cycling- I just hope I don't damage the bike too much while messing this up!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
Cons: none yet that i have found
I've always ridden mountain bikes, but was keen to get a road bike so I could do more road miles and get fitter. I'm 6.ft 2 and 16 stone, so not small (hopefully smaller after some time on this bike!), so needed something that would suit my build and give me a fast start. Having looked at my options and budget, the Cannondale Synapse came up tops. I went to my local Evans and they built the bike so I could take it for a test ride, also allowing me to go out on a comparable 2013 Trek. This is a fantastic bike and I love it. My only sadness is that I brought in in Jan '13 and the weather has been so bad.
I couldn't recommend this bike and Evans customer service more.

Great Bike !!

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
I want to get fitter (19.5 stone) and I've had a mountain bike for a number of years but I liked the idea of being able to go further on a road bike. I looked around and found this Synapse 105 which everyone said should be more comfortable as it' has a "relaxed" geometry although I did see a load of reviews saying it had an uncomfortable saddle.
I got the bike 2 weeks ago and I've been out on it every day - it looks great, gear changes are smooth, it's really comfortable to ride and I've done a couple of hundred miles on it already. It's my first road bike so it's hard to say how it compares to others but I can say that for me, I love it and would happily recommend it to anyone.
PS. Service and advice from the chaps in Leeds was great.

A good quality cycle - some areas for improvement

PostedAugust 7, 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Looks great
Cons: Uncomfortable
I have not cycled for many years but spurred on by the Tour, my wife cycling coast to coast over the Pennines, and a pressing need to get fitter I decided to take the plunge.
Lots of internet research and opinion seeking later, I decided that my starting point was the Cannondale Synapse 105. The combination of excellent frame designed to cope with rougher roads, and my desire for reasonable quality gearing and breaking components pointed that way. I didn't want to spend much over £1,000 too!
The guys at Evans were helpful and clearly skilled at assisting ageing men choose something suitable. I looked at a number of models but still liked the Cannondale and took it out for a test ride. It felt like a sports car compared to my previous bike. I could actually feel it accelerate and it felt lively and responsive, coping well with the broken roads around Milton Keynes.
I've had the bike for three weeks now and remain pleased with it. I have covered around 300 miles over rolling countryside. The 105 gear set is excellent and provides light rapid changes. The only issue I found, but this is fussy, was shifting to the larger chain ring needs is a little difficult requiring a large movement of the lever. The Tektro brakes feel reassuringly powerful and work well in the wet.
So any negatives? Well the saddle does, as other reviewers have commented, feel really uncomfortable and I will have to replace it with something better. I would also appreciate some sort of guard over the chain ring. It's very easy to hit kerbs with the unprotected gear teeth, not to mention the interesting oily patterns on the back of my calves.
I will also have to change the cassette to provide more hill climbing ability. This is not a criticism of the bike but worth noting if, like me, your power to weight ratio is not what it was.
Overall then, a good looking bike with a quality feel at a reasonable price.

Fantastic

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
Absolute fantastic bike! I cannot speak highly enough. The ride is extremely comfortable with the frame set up dampening out uneven road vibrations. I have not had any neck or back ache like I have had with other road bikes. The gears are extremely smooth. I'm so glad that I paid the extra to get Shimano 105 components they are superb. I would also like to say that the service from Evans was first class. I purchased the bike on a Ride2work scheme at the London bridge store. The staff were all extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend the bike and Evans Cycles.

Superb Engineering, Effortless comfortable ride

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
The Cannondale Synapse 5 105 2012 Road Bike, I brought this excellent bike through the companies cyclescheme, I been riding it for 3 weeks now commuting between home and work I must admitt the light weight alloy frame is superb and you hardly notice the weight. The Synapse SAVE system definitely smooths out the rough roads and occassional pot holes and makes for a smooth comfortable ride. I’m 6’ 5” tall so went for the XXL 61cm frame size and it fits me to a “T”
Synapse by name, synapse by nature it’s very responsive and quick to boot, excellent value for money, ripping with quality, a definate double head turner!
