Joystick MaXx-2 first winters road riding!
Date: April 9, 2010
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight
After my first winters evening road riding with the Joystick Maxx-2, I hope my experience of it can help others make the choice about buying it, going for a cheaper light or getting a higher model in the range. It is an excellent light with enough juice to use the max setting for most rides and I have noticed no reduction in battery strength over the winter recharging it. It is a very tidy and yet solid design which clamps really well to the handlebars. It is a massive jump up from the electron and cateye lights ( inc external battery rechargeable models) I have used previously. They just seem to have gone for quality all round with compact designs in mind. I am a racing cyclist, mainly riding on completely unlit country roads and I find the joystick almost ideal. A couple of rides in, I wished I had bought this high a quality light years ago and not 'messed about' with a number of different cheaper lights. I do find that you still have to hold back slightly on a fast downhill but not much. If you've got the money and want to do 60 mph and see perfectly at night then perhaps Race Maxx2 would be worth the extra pounds but I think it would be hard to beat the joystick for quality and value for money.

Excellent value and performance
Date: March 22, 2010
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight
The joystick is better than I thought it would be. Would like the helmet mount to be easier to take on and off - but I can live with it 'til summer comes. Would like a bar mount too!!
