Great watch, short battery life
Posted23 June 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great, customisable
Cons: battery life
Combined with the suunto movescount website and the ability to download create custom apps for almost any parameter you could imagine, this is a great watch for hiking, running or cycling. The display is very large and clear, both in sunlight and darkness. GPS tracking accuracy and trip data is spot-on (compared to several Garmin models), and although the "take me back" feature only works on a straight line to a chosen waypoint, it is simple to use. You cannot simply see your own track on the map, but you can upload and follow tracks via movescount, which works great for cycling and running. I've also managed to export activities to from movescount and uploaded them to strava and Garmin Connect.
The only limitation (and my reason to return the watch) is the short battery life - it's certainly more than enough for a marathon or a half day out cycling, but not the "up to 50 hours" claimed by evans; more like 8-10 hours with constant GPS. If ultra marathons or audax rides are your thing and you need 20 hours battery life, go for the Ambit2, whose battery is twice as large.
