Nearly but not quite

Yes, I recommend this product.
I ordered these panniers but sent them back as they failed to meet my needs in a couple of ways.
Firstly, I am accustomed to keeping lights, tools, pump, and spare tube in the external pocket of my panniers and the pockets on this model were not big enough for that much stuff.
Secondly, not having a car, I periodically try to carry more than really fits or stuff that is too big - think baguettes. Having long straps and being able to tighten the lid down over my load is really handy, even if not waterproof. Vaude, however, have done a neat job of preventing such abuse by keeping the straps short and having the loose ends drawn inside and up in towards the lid.
For more reasonable use, I think these would be excellent.

Excellent product

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality
Cons: Expensive
I'm a London city commuter I am very pleased with this panniers. I debated for a long time between these and the Ortlieb back rollers. I finally decided on the Vaude because of the two external pockets which are so important for me as I cycle with my toddler who rides in a rear seat (thus making the bike very unwieldy). I also needed a pannier that would fit on the luggage rack while still allowing enough space for the footrest of the baby seat. No pannier was going to be perfect, but the hard backing of this pannier allows me to ride with them clipped as far back on the luggage rack as possible without the bags flopping all over the place or rubbing against the tire. The external pockets also allow me quick access to important items like keys, light and baby toys!
I have had them in the pouring rain for an hour or so and once I got home, the rain had just beaded up on the surface of the bag. I gave it a shake and the fabric was completely dry!
