Fast rolling...but no use in any kind of mud

Posted01 March 2014
No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros: Lightweight, Looks great, fit & remove by hand
Cons: Expensive, poor wet weather handling
Easy to fit & remove by hand, feel lightweight and nimble. Roll along great on hardpack with a nice bounce from the relativley fat carcass. But introduce any kind of mud and it's like riding on ice. No traction uphill from the rear tyre and the front washes out on braking. Riding along any adverse camber in the wet and the bike will be sliding sideways leaving you with no confidence to really get aggresive with them. Best leave them for the summer months.

Top tyre

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Looks great, great all rounder
I always struggle to find the right tyre, for me tyres are usually either too light = fast but fragile or too heavy = dead and draggy.
On these tyres the balance is just right, enough sidewall to take a few scrapes but still has light supple feel. Best tyre I have ridden yet, and I have tried many.
Tread is fast all rounder, good for rock and dry conditions, but probably only a bit of mud.
Width is spot on too, not tractor wide, but big enough to move a bit and grip. I am not the fastest guy on trail center descents (Afan), but I have found the grip limit on other tyres before, but not on these (yet :)).
These will be staying on the bike untill next winter now, just hope we get a summer this year now.
I am running them tubeless with some stans fluid, as usual needed CO2 to get seated initially. Good sidewalls, so hardly any air loss and no fluid seeping through at set up, sealed nice and good to ride after 1 day.
