Easy fit tyres put onto MTB to use on the road during the winter months, went on with no problems and are a joy to ride. liked the bright lettering on the side another aid for motorist to see you.

Fast, Light and Quiet!

Posted20 January 2014
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
I bought these tyres for my Specialized Hardrock, to replace the Fast Traks that came standard. I use them on my daily 8 mile commute, and I cant believe the difference! They are much faster, I find my self around two gears higher on these tyres. They are a bit lighter than my other tyres too which is rather nice. Also, they run super quiet for that added stealth factor!
The grip is excellent, although I find it to be very on or off whilst braking heavily. Unlike my last tyres its hard to tell when they are about to lose grip under braking, but this is only an issue when breaking very very hard.
Cannot comment on puncture resistance, but haven't gotten one yet.

Similar to Specialised FatBoy

Posted28 October 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Bought these on spec as a replacement for some well worn Specialised FatBoys. I haven't been disappointed - similar slicks that look the business, can tolerate a high PSI and run almost as narrow as my former tyres. Great on my converted MTB commuter. If you like narrow slicks then these are your tyres.

Good alternative to a road bike if you have an MTB

Posted08 July 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
My Boardman HT Pro MTB is a great bike but I wanted to do more road miles this summer and the Mountain King 2.2 tyres were very draggy on the road. These 2.0 slicks are a cost effective solution to buying a second bike, and give far better rolling resistance than knobblies whilst still suiting the style of the bike (1.35 width tyres would roll faster but would look a bit skinny/weird on an MTB).
Good points?
Running at a slightly less than bullet hard pressure means the tyres give great rolling speed combined with bump absorption as well as providing excellent cornering grip.
They've proved fine even on gravel tracks, as long as you take care round corners!
The chunky nature suits the look of a mountain bike better than more skinny tyres (aesthetics are important as well as performance!)
Good puncture resistance with the puncture resistant banding (but this does make the tyre heavier)
Not so good points?
There's a greasy finish to the tyres due to the manufacturing process that ideally needs cleaning with a cloth soaked in brake cleaner just to get the surface back to the very grippy rubber underneath. Once sorted, the tyres are excellent.
They are a bit heavy, but not really noticeable once moving, so it's a case of keeping up momentum.
Hope this helps - you get one or two gears extra speed at the cost of 15 mins work swapping knobblies for slicks any time you want to ride the road rather than offroad. They also take up much less space (and are much cheaper) than another bike!

Fat but fast

Posted26 March 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Comfortable
i use Rimbo 1.5" with 80 PSI before, but this amazing tyre with 2" width (60PSI) is even faster!
but in wet or paved road with a lot of sand on it , this tyre will be a disaster, but of course it is the cost for using this tyre

Brilliant commuting tyre

Posted09 March 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
This tyre has hit the commuter sweet spot. It's fast rolling, lightweight and gives loads of grip, but it still provides a comfortable ride easily absorbing rough road surfaces and bumps up and down 'dropped' kerbs.
The puncture protection is the same as I had on my previous Schwalbe tyre and that was great so I'm hoping for much the same here but three weeks in is a little early to say.
