I wanted a bike to commute on that would be up to carrying my weight (i'm big boned and made repeated poor choices at meal times) along with office clothes, change of kit, lunch, towel etc. (in fact I only need to use one of the two supplied panniers). On the subject of panniers: with both fitted the bike is W I D E ! Filtering through rush hour traffic becomes a challenge. Comfortable, relaxed and upright riding position, nicely angled bars, powder coated frame should be more resistant to chipping etc. Centre stand works well. This bike isn't light. If you seek a light bike, please look elsewhere. You wouldn't wish to lug it up any stairs and the slightly longer wheelbase makes confined spaces a slight challenge. Mechanical brakes inspire confidence. Everything works well out of the box and there aren't any obvious weak links in the spec. Although listed as a hybrid bike on the Evans site, its a rather unique proposition. If you view it in context, as a more nimble cargo bike with commuting potential, then you won't go far wrong. From a price perspective it comes with two panniers and mudguards fitted. If you needed to buy these separately you'd need to budget accordingly, thus placing the price in perspective. The panniers have an upper flap that covers the contents, but this only keeps the worst of the rain out, it is not designed to be super snug, well fitting and waterproof (like an Ortlieb pannier would). The other nice thing about the Minute is that its rather rare, you don't see many of them. It seems to be a great talking point at traffic lights with other cyclists. Great bike , fit for purpose and I admire the Kona ethos, check out their amusing stuff on youtube.
