Customer reviews for Tacx Blue Matic Folding Magnetic Trainer

Tacx Blue Matic Folding Magnetic Trainer

The Blue Matic features a magnetic brake which is a simpler braking system and is therefore ideal for warm up, warm down training sessions. The Blue Matics magnetic brake consists of two discs with 8 permanent-magnets each. With the 10 position handlebar resistance lever you can change the position of the magnets in the brake unit in relation to each other. Overall this is a great trainer to own if you don't want to venture out into the colder weathers.

Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great, low noise level
Easy to set up and get training on. Fantastic range of resistance levels, easy to adjust levels whilst training both up and down the resistance levels.
Low noise levels even when at high revaloutions. Fantastic overall and very good value.

Great Trainer

Posted19 January 2015
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Looks great
Cons: Heavy, resistance lever
This has been brilliant over the winter months - avoiding the roads in this weather in fear of broken hips and worse..
Have used this daily with my Giant Defy and resistance/ fit etc are all great. Only issue I have is that the resistance lever will not go up to levels 1 or 2 (which I wouldn't use anyway) - would be 5* otherwise.
Would recommend and definitely buy again, seems much more sturdy and better quality than other trainers at a similar price.

Fine

Posted16 December 2014
Yes, I recommend this product.
Cons: manufacturing tolerances
Overall the product is fine. Sturdy, the resistance levels are not as wide spread as a previous turbo trainer that I've had, however I just use the bike gears instead. The only disappointment was their are two set of bolt holes depending on the wheel size, and on mine they over partially overlapped so it was fiddley to put to together - not hard or difficult. The resistance lever doesn't stay at position 1 it drops to 2, which again will not be a problem as I never use level 1, but makes one question the attention to detail and allowable tolerances in the manufacturing process.
Other than that its fine and does exactly what it should do.

Good price and a well built trainer

Posted21 November 2014
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality
It's easy to assemble and stable and relatively quiet in use. My only criticism is the lever to change resistance is quite stiff and moves when attached to handle bars.

Stay dry this winter

Posted19 October 2014
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight
Have set up my old MTB for this trainer by replacing the tube and tyre for the specific Tacx tyre. Unfortunately my rear wheel had a solid axle which fitted but decided to replace with a hollow axle and the Quick Release Spindle supplied for a better support. Due to the warm weather have only used the trainer a few times so far but it gives me a good workout particularly with the ability to change the resistance from the handlebar lever. Obviously this cannot compete with the more complex models on the market but there again the price is nowhere near those either. All round good trainer for keeping in trim during those cold, wet and icy conditions that winter brings.

Does exactly what it says

Posted15 March 2014
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value
Cons: must buy specialist tyre
Great product, not as noisy as I thought given warnings from friends over other turbo trainers and good variable resistance.
Beware: do get a special turbo trainer tyre as it does really quickly shred standard ones.

Blue Matic is an exceptional product

Posted04 August 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, stable
This is my first turbo trainer but I am glad I went the whole hog and spent that little extra. The resistance is perfect to get you working the gears and off the saddle.
this is a really stable and solid product.
The resistance controller is easy enough to operate, the only slight whine I would have is the changing of the resistance slightly can be a bit clunky when tired. You tend to end up changing from 7 to 3 when you may only want to go to 5... but honestly I would still buy this product knowing that you just have to be a bit thoughtful when adjusting the resistance.
