Good quality light, really bright!

PostedNovember 18, 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, bright!, sensible flashing modes, rubber seals, can be adapted to fit 50mm fitting, compatible with birdy expedition folding rack
Cons: Heavy
Styling may or may not be to your taste, but I do think that this is the best rack-mount light I've found with inbuilt reflector.
It isn't the lightest light out there, but it is solidly built, so this isn't all bad.
This light fits 80mm spacing by default, but you can easily drill through pre-marked holes to make it fit 50mm without any difficulty, and there are the hexagonal recess for the screw heads with both options. However, the light will mount slightly lower on the rack with the 50mm hole options. (If you do this, I suggest taping over the other holes to maintain water resistance)
Battery life is not too bad, I haven't run the first set of batteries flat yet, and I have done quite a few hours of riding.
Good news for Birdy owners is that this will fit on the folding expedition rack without impeding the fold (or increasing the folded size) and without getting in the way of the pannier clips.
I find the switch easy to find with gloves, being on the bottom and sticking out enough to find by feel and press easily.
As with any rear light, I would recommend using mudguards when the light is directly above the tyre, but sealing is pretty good as lights go.
It's nice that there is a flashing mode where the main LED is on constantly and the side ones flash.
Much, much better made than the B&M toplight senso that this replaced.

Well-designed permanent rear light

PostedFebruary 25, 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Looks great
Large light-reflector combo, permanently attaches to the carrier mount. Nice and bright and seems solid. It's a little fiddly to get to the on/off switch underneath, but hardly a chore. Would recommend.
