Poor quality control

PostedMay 23, 2013
No, I do not recommend this product.
Cons: Poor quality
I ordered 2 of these and when I received them the first had a faulty thread on the valve stem and the second had such a gummed up valve that it couldn't be pumped up properly and then wouldn't seal. I wasted over an hour on a 10 minute job getting incredibly frustrated. A competitive product was sourced from Halfords for £1 less each and the quality initially appears far superior.
However, good quality communication from customer support and I await a refund...

Might Save a Walk One Day

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight
Cons: valve dexterity
Should be obvious, why I choose self sealing tubes, even if the self repair is not perfect and I've often combined them with Kevlar anti-puncture bands they have got me home or bought time for thorough repair at leisure..
This tube is only slightly larger than a 700 x 28-38 C tube, so don't be tempted to try this in a 700C MTB 29" x 2.2" baloon tire, the 700 x 47-52 tubes are noticeably larger and a stretched 35-45 tube is unlikely to self seal.
The sealant, is a clear sticky goo (probably latex compound) rather than a green glycol chopped fibre goo, so it might not be obvious when a puncture's occured. There's little apparent added weight, best when fitting try to keep valve high & dry, to conserve goo rather than have any drips from valve.
The instructions on back of box are clear & a useful reminder of how you're supposed to fit clincher tyres & tube to the wheel. I bought this inner tube, same price as rival as it had price reduction and specified a large <= 3mm puncture seal. The only small con I found, is the presta valve seems to require higher pressure than other tubes to hold air, without being screwed down, it feels a little flimsier than other valves I've had. That could make emergency re-inflation on go with compact hand pump and sealing a little more fiddly on a cold day.
Chose this over alternative self sealer, due to small price cut and more importantly the 3mm puncture seal being specified which seems quite large.

Clear goo probably not latex

Actually thinking about it, latex would likely be whiteish or coloured, rather than clear.
