Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable
I run a comfortable cross bike (Pinnacle Arkose) and with Small Block Eights the bike excels at everything from commuting (roads, cycle paths and tow paths) to touring (10 days in Albania last year on surfaces from great to truly abysmal) to off road on natural trails.
One of my regular rides takes me over a pass in the Pentlands hills where everyone else uses MTB’s and where I’ve let people go first thinking they’d be quicker than me (I always ride with 2 panniers and a bar bag so the bike is heavy) but twice now I’ve caught and passed folks who, judging by the kit, were experienced MTBers. On the road, the Kenda’s are quick enough for me (I tend to noodle along at about 25km/h average). Grip is never a problem either on or off road. In technical off-road climbs you’ll have to move your weight around to maintain traction more than on an MTB but that just adds to the fun; on the road they corner excellently: you can push the bike past 45 degrees without so much as a squirm. On-road comfort is good too. The carbon forks on the Arkose certainly help but get the tyre pressures right (I use 60 front 70 rear plus another few psi when touring) and you forget you’re on knobblies. As a final bonus I’ve had one puncture in 3000 miles on the original tyres.
Factor in the price and they’re a no brainer.

Tyre choice
Posted November 6, 2014
I took my Arkose 3 touring in France in July, so swapped out the Kendas (Small Block 8) for a set of Conti Cyclocross Speed 700s - thinking they'd be a bit more road-friendly and useful on gravel paths in the local forests when I returned.
Well after a double-figure puncture count - the Contis may as well be made of cling film - I was considering putting the Kendas back on.
I definitely will now. Thanks for the review!

Not as fast on the road but fantastic off-road

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight
My bike came equipped with Continental Speed Kings, which were awful: Heavy and prone to punctures. Then I swapped to a pair of Vittoria cross evo's which were fantastic on the road and on loose gravel, but got a bit scary on mud.
I use my bike mostly for commuting, whicch includes roads, farm tracks and loose gravel. When I first put the Kenda small block tyres I was impressed by the light weight and quality, however, as soon as I went out I could see they had much greater rolling resistance compared with the Vittoria's I was using before. I even thought about returning the tyres until I went offroad with them, which is where they really shine. These are increadible on loose gravel and a bit of mud. The tires are so grippy, that I just look forward to the next gravel or mud section of my ride. The tires are also quite plush and confortable, so I tend to run them at higher pressure than I did before, which has made it better on the road as well.
Overall a great product. Quite happy with these for a winter tyre.
