No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros: Good value
Cons: Poor quality
Bent too easily. Does the job, but if the link won't budge, the bar bends like jelly.
Good price but cheap material.

Junk

PostedAugust 31, 2013
No, I do not recommend this product.
Useless piece of kit.
-The rubber stoppers on the end of the bar come off very easily and let the bar fall out.
-The pin remover is too big for the chain holes
-The handle bent without much pressure.
Very disappointed with Evans selling rubbish like this.

Usable but not reliable

PostedAugust 30, 2013
No, I do not recommend this product.
Cons: Poor quality
Was ok for extracting the pin but when re-inserting the pin, the threads for screwing the pin in got worn out (low grade material) so the tool was rendered useless.
Had to make a trip to the LBS to borrow their chain tool to get my bike together again.
I guess you get what you pay for but Evans should not be listing this product as it is really sub-par.....seems like something one gets from ebay or something...

Lightweight but does the job

PostedJuly 29, 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Lightweight
My chain rivets were UNBELIEVABLY tight and had to put two ring spanners on both handles for extra leverage and use all my might. I feared it would bend the handle, but this little guy held up and forced the rivet through just fine. Job done. Hopefully next time my rivets will be easier to push and device will be perfect.

A chocolate fireguard. Only fit for the bin. Avoid

PostedJune 4, 2013
No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros: novelty paperweight
Cons: Poor quality, unfit for purpose, deforms easily, waste of money
Bought this recently and have tried to use it once. Here's a list of the failings of this device:
The handle is a length of soft steel and bends.
The rubber bits on the ends of the handles slip off and then the handle slips out of the device.
The thread is not straight. The screw mechanism is made of soft metal, has slipped and re-threaded, now useless.
The bolt that should push through the chain pin is larger than the chain pin, deforming the chain plates.
The guide pins that hold the chain in place are made of soft metal and have sheared off on first usage.
I can not believe how totally and completely useless this device is. It exists I think because someone has seen this device elsewhere and has decided to make it on the cheap. I can not think of any way that it fulfills its advertised function.

Great for occasional use

PostedFebruary 22, 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value
This does the job very well and is great for the price.
Would recommend this for occasional use, If you are after something to use on a regular basis i would suggest something a little more expensive and more robust.

very poor product

PostedAugust 30, 2012
No, I do not recommend this product.
Cons: Poor quality
simply does not work, piece that is suppose to push link out is too large and does not fit through link holes. The bar used to tighten the device is made from mild steel and bent before the link would push through.
Poor design, poor quality and simply not worth buying, but then expected looking at the price point.
Save money in the long run and buy a more expensive tool.
