EnergySource Plus is a new generation of sports drinks for use during exercise. It contains a carbohydrate formulation of maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 2:1 and essential electrolytes. The differences between EnergySource Plus and EnergySource are that the Plus contains caffeine (60mg/litre), magnesium and a greater level of electrolytes. Research has shown that you should consume 60 grams of carbohydrate every hour if exercising. However, now the recommended intake for the new generation EnergySource Plus, with 2:1 fructose can be substantially higher at around 100g per hour. During tough events it is important to keep your body hydrated, absorbing water is vital and the ingredients within the EnergySource Plus gives you that hydration. The Electrolyte levels in the EnergySource Plus should be adequate. If however your sweat rates rise then it is recommended that you add a High5 Zero Neutral tablet to 500ml of EnergySource Plus, so that it boosts your electrolyte content. Some Athletes find that in some caffeine product drinks it can cause muscle cramp, so always try it out in a training session before using in a race situation.
