Pros: Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great
Cons: no extras supplied
As a long time user of Rolf wheels I've been waiting to pick up a set of their new Ralos 6 wheels for quite some time now. I have previously been riding with a set of old Dolomite discs and was curious to feel how they would compare. And I have to say that I am not at all disappointed. Not only are they light at around 1.5kg with tape and skewers, they are super strong. Out of the box they are beautiful. Quite understated really in black with the distinctive Rolf spoke count and paired pattern. The red anodised nipples adding just a little bling. The wheels come tubeless ready, but even though i still use tubes it was a little annoying to find that only one valve converter was included in the box. There are also no hub adapters included. Again no problem for me, still using 9mm QR but perhaps a little bit stingy of Rolf at this price point and something that might make other potential adopters look elsewhere. The rims took tyres with ease. No struggles. I shod my Pace 405 and took them into my backyard here in Lausanne, Switzerland which just so happens to be a nice section of the Jura mountains with plenty of single track and some nice technical descents. The wheels performed even better than I expected: climbing well and handling the bumps well. In short if you are in the market for a good looking set of distinctive and bomb-proof cross country wheels then you should definitely consider the Rold Prima Ralos.
