Perfect entry level suit

PostedDecember 28, 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
Bought this as my first suit for my first sea swim. It was perfect. Size fits well and kept me warm in the Atlantic in October. I got the suit here for 130 euro including p&p. So much cheaper than the shops in Ireland which sell the same suit for around 250 euro.
Confortable, warm and affordable.

Fantastic entry level suit

PostedSeptember 25, 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable
Fit
I fell perfectly into the 7 size category except for being slightly heavier than it recommended but I am stocky for my height. The fit was perfect and snug. (make sure you pull it all the way up to the crotch for adequate room on the shoulders). As easy as any other wetsuit to get on and felt good and tight when on dry. Once in the water the fit was again good. Just the right amount of water was allowed in to warm up. I didn't really feel constricted in my stroke but I found the wrists and ankles to be of a slightly looser fit. This meant cold water did go in every so often at the wrists but nothing I couldn't handle over the 1.5km swim I did.
Performance
Fantastic for such an entry level wetsuit. Buoyancy was perfectly balanced and it felt streamlined in the water. Also the loose ankle fitting as I mentioned before made getting the wetsuit off very easy plus the chip I was wearing was easily fitted underneath for the swim.
I can't make comments about durability but seems solid. Also others have mocked the ugly motifs on the suit. I'm not that fussed. If anything its a bonus as your friends and family might be able to identify you in the pandemonium of the swim. A very good wetsuit for the price. London 2012 was my first triathlon and I consider myself a moderately strong swimmer. I managed 27 minutes in this suit. I'd rather save the £200 on a suit upgrade and spend it on my bike but that's just me. Would definitely recommend.

Good starter

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Comfortable
Had been researching wetsuits for a while and was ultimately sold on this one for reasons of cost and brand. As an entry level swimmer I figured I wasn't really going to benefit from a £300 suit.
Difficult to appraise thoroughly as I've not raced in it yet but...
• I am bang in the middle of the MT sizing values so sizing was a no-brainer and that was true to guide (38in chest, 5'11 tall, 161lbs).
• Once the suit was fitted properly (as high up the body and neck as possible) it felt comfortable in the water and allowed just the right amount of water in to acclimatise correctly.
• Fit overall was really good but shoulder motion felt a little constricted (probably just unfamiliar with wearing a wetsuit)
• As a first time open water swimmer bouyancy was a revelation... light legs, well-balanced torso, easy smooth motion through the water, felt like the suit aided streamlining so no fighting with the water.
There's a handy little guide to putting on the suit that comes with it on the labeling tag. Very useful. Remember to handle with care as the neoprene feels delicate.
All in all, a reasonable purchase for a first suit.
Oh, and next day delivery service was brilliant.

Great value for money! I did my first over 5 km open water swim in a lake in this suit. The only problem was a bit too tight neck ...but then again, better tight than loose.

Great suit for the price

PostedJuly 31, 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality
Cons: Unattractive, unzips down iso up
FIT
I'm 1m81 and weigh 71.5kg, trim body type with slightly broader than avg. shoulders/biceps. Fully aware a wetsuit should feel borderline uncomfortably tight when dry for best performance.
I fall well in the middle of the "MT" bracket for all 3 measurements, so not surprisingly the fit is mostly perfectly tight without being too restricted in movement. In my case the neck seal is pulled up rather high because of my broad-ish shoulders, so I have to keep stretching the suit upper a fair amount to clear the throat area enough for comfortable breathing. Adjusting with the neck velcro is of course not possible when too tight is the problem.
FEEL / PERFORMANCE
In the water, over the course of a 1,5km swim I only felt a big slosh of cold water coming into the suit 5 or 6 times, signs of a nice tight fit.
The mesh on the back of the arms for more pull is a nice touch. Buoyancy is very good, facilitating good horizontal form, but not noticeably (to me anyway) better or worse than rented suits I wore before. Had no friction issues and moving arms and legs feels okay but certainly not like the flexible more expensive suits.
DURABILITY
It's hard to comment on the durability at this point, but I haven't damaged the neoprene much yet after wearing it 10 or so times. I file my nails after trimming beforehand but I do pull fairly hard on the suit with my bare hands to get into a good fit.
CONCLUSION
I find the S4 an excellent value for money wetsuit for average triathletes like myself mostly competing in 1/4s.
PS why the "S4" printed all over the suit? It's ugly and I don't see Audi or BMW spraying "2.0l" on hoods and doors of cars sold with lowly engines :)
