Cadence doesn't work properly

PostedMay 30, 2013
No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros: Looks great
Cons: Poor quality, Expensive
I got one of these several months ago
Mounted it all fine and programmed the wheels size etc
Cadence sensor was mounted on the chain stay (where they recommended and well under (800mm) the 1000mm max distance)
It worked for a few weeks, although not completely consistently
Then it stopped working, testing showed it needed to be closer to the receiver/computer (around 600mm) so I mounted it on the down tube where it worked for another few weeks when it simply stopped working altogether
I communicated with Evans who replaced it with a brand new unit
The new unit didn't work at all in the chain stay position, I could only get it to work much closer so again i mounted it on the down tube
After 3 weeks it too stopped working completely (not registering any cadence even with the sensor touching the receiver)
Batteries in all instances were tested and found to be fine
I've contacted Evans re a full refund and have bought a CatEye Strada Cadence already owning two of these and them working consistently

cadence feature fail

PostedFebruary 23, 2013
No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros: Looks great
Cons: Poor quality, Expensive
The good:
Easy to read screen
I liked the layout with alternate colours for speed, distance etc
Handle bar attachment was good, was able to install over the stem to save space
The bad:
The screen was already showing a low battery
The cadence attachment didn't feel secure, hard to tighten and I was worried my heel would at some stage bump or snap off the device.
I could not get a wireless connection between the cadence device and the computer for a distance of approx 700mm, well under the max 1000mm on the instructions.
I tilted the cadence device so it was at a precarious 45deg angle and finally got a signal, but the RPM reading was all over the place, showing 90rpm then 45rpm, then 100, then 50, all in the space of a few seconds.
Next time I stopped, the wireless connection dropped out again and never returned.
Thank you Evans for providing a fast full refund. I don't recommend this product.
