The one jacket to replace most of your jackets

PostedSeptember 29, 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great, water resistant, packable, windproof
Cons: only one rear pocket, neck collar is too wide, too warm above 13 deg c
I purchased the Xenon 2.0 AS jacket with the hope of having one jacket that could serve most of the needs of my other cycling jackets. My previous selection of jackets always made it hard to choose the appropriate jacket when heading out for riding in cool and changeable weather conditions. First off, this jacket may seem pricey but my experience so far is that this is likely the one and only jacket you need to keep you warm when riding at 4-13 deg C. There are so many products out there that claim to be windproof, breathable, and water resistant but this gore tex active shell fabric is truly amazing stuff. The jacket is surprisingly warm despite having such thin material! While the jacket does not promise to be waterproof and has no taped seams, I found during most rides I only wanted some light to moderate rain protection for brief rain showers and this jacket has no problem keeping you dry in such circumstances. This is a minimalist jacket that easily fits in a jersey pocket and weighs next to nothing but compromises with only one small rear pocket. The fit is slim so the material does not flap around, but I found the neck collar too wide. The jacket is difficult to unzip with one hand but this is a minor issue.

Sizing all wrong

PostedDecember 22, 2013
No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality
Cons: Expensive
Already have a Gore Gillet which is excellent I sought out this brand to replace a windproof jacket. I usually get by with a small or extra small and using the Gore sizing guide I selected a small in line with the Gillet. Quality seemed fine but I couldn't even get my hand into the sleeve. All sorted with the help of Evans staff by way of a return and replacement from another brand.

Excellent piece of gear

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
Cons: Expensive
I have been using this jacket for a couple of weeks now and i'm totally satisfied with my purchase. It's light and good. You can easily stow this in the backpocket of your jersey so it's there when you need it.
when unpacked from the box...The material looks like it will annoy you when riding but i was surprised to find out that it didn't.
I particularly like the slim fit, high collar and pre bend arms.
Besides this....when wearing this jacket you really look like a pro....But off course that's not important :-)
I hope this jacket will last many years!

Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great, packs small
This is my first ever wind-jacket. I did some research and had a couple of jackets in mind including some by Pearl Izumi, Mavic, Sugoi, Endura and several from Gore.
The reason for me to buy a jacket is that I plan to tour from Eindhoven, The Netherlands to Málaga, Spain in July and August. The journey being mostly in France and Spain, in that time of year means I'll probably have great weather and no need for a thick, warm jacket. What I do need is a wind-proof jacket for early mornings, col-descents, unexpected rainfall and days that simply are a bit cooler, which is ultra light and packable.
To be honest, in the end I didn't really know what to order because there was so much choice. I eventually chose this Gore jacket because Gore Tex has a great reputation, and the looks seemed nice on the pictures.
The jacket came in a plastic bag. The package was superlight, and when I took the jacket out of the bag I noticed that the jacket was almost lighter than the bag which it came in! When I tried it on, the person who was with me told me it was way too small. I thought so too in the beginning. But then I noticed that when I moved my arms in 'Riding position' the sleeve fit was perfect, the front of the jacket reached just under my jersey and the back flap was a bit longer to cover my entire back and upper bottocks.
I tested the jacket in vast winds near the coast and last week in the French Alpes during a charity ride, climbing the Alpe d'Huez six times in a row. The first climbs at 4:30am I wore the jacket, and on all the descends I also wore it. When the sun started to shine halfway the second climb it got too warm but not too sweaty. I took off the jacket, which easily fits into a jersey pocket. But as my jersey pockets were full I folded and stuffed it into one of those tiny bags that come with cheap sunglasses. (your lbs will probably give you one for free if you ask nicely) and hung it to my stem behind my event-number-plate on my bars.
The jacket is an extremely comfortable, perfect road biking fit. It also fits well on the mtb but I'd get a stronger fabric for serious trail riding. It stops the wind entirely and though I didnt ride in heavy rain I'd say it's almost water proof aswell. It keeps you warm on spring and autumn rides and cool summer rides but not on cold winter rides. A warm base layer can be worn underneath, but as the fit is so snug there is no space to stack layers.

Great material, not a perfect fit.

PostedMay 24, 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Lightweight
Cons: fit, elasticated hem
Slightly too much material in the sleeve and the partially elasticated hem at the rear bunches up and doesn't grip at all well. Other than that the material performs very well in warm and cold weather. Just about packs down to be stuffed into your pocket.

Top quality, light, snug and warm

PostedMarch 15, 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great, very warm and breathable
You'll need to be careful with sizing on this and try different sizes. They come up small anyway as Gore, plus it's a very tailored fit anyway and you'll likely be wearing it over other layers.
Very light and packable and good for occasional wet weather. Windstopper is just superb - never had one before but am now sold - and for such a lightweight product it's remarkably warm.
Also extremely breathable and haven't yet come up sweaty inside.
Strongly recommend this as a regular warm layer instead of a thermo jersey or over the top.
Don't be put off by the price. This is good value.
