Works well.

Yes, I recommend this product.
After the initial 30 bottom clenching seconds you soon get the hang of it although you do have to be careful not to ride off the front roller, especially when you're tired & slowing down. It certainly forces you to ride smoothly, when you are doing 30mph in the kitchen keeping the front wheel in the middle is interesting when changing your position on the bars etc, the parabolic shape helps but there's nothing to stop you like some models.
It seems a lot of money for what it is but the price is comparable to other brands and the design does seem well thought out and looks durable.

Easy to set up - Hard to master

Posted02 March 2014
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Looks great, packs away neatly, cheap spare parts
Cons: Expensive, rollers mark easily
I am by no means an expert on rollers, but i have had experience with the lower model of TACX rollers, the antares, and also the Elite Arions.
The rocking movement from the Galaxia, whilst very odd at first, does allow you to really give it some power without losing balance or fearing about over powering the rollers and riding off them. I haven't quite perfected riding out of the seat yet but my friends can do it effortlessly on them.
I will say that they Galaxia's are a bit more sensitive to how you set up the length of the roller frame for you bikes wheelbase. For most other rollers I have always had the front axel slightly behind the centre of the front roller, but on the galaxias it better to have it almost directly centred over the top. The fact that the base can rock backward and forward means that it is easier for the bike to pick up a bit of momentum and roll of the back when you are getting ready to start a session when its not set up perfectly.
The parabolic rollers work far better for me than the little lips on the elite rollers. I always found myself bumping the elites rollers ends, but on the TACX rollers, i never seem to get that far over toward the edge because of the gentle parabolic design.
Definitely recommended - especially if you look out for good deals and get Evans to price-match.
ALso, would recommend a mat under these rollers so that the rocking back and forth doesnt rub or mark your floors. I haven't had this problem on my hard floors but on a pale carpet it could be an issue.

Stationarybike

Easier than I was led to believe

Posted14 November 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight
Recently made a dad and with time at a premium I decided that a stationary bike trainer would be the ideal solution. More bang for your buck than going for a 30 minute ride on the streets, and less dangerous. I had used the fixed wheel trainers before and found them a little too hard on my back and knees, though was attracted by the ease of doing a session and zoning out to some extent and being able to watch TV. I was drawn to the rollers, partly due to seeing them on TV during the track cycling at the London olympics and also because I perceived them to better replicate the road experience, to be kinder on the back, and to give a better all round experience. I weighed up a number of options but the Tacx Galaxia, with its unique balance system, appeared to be the most revolutionary and attracted my attention most. I did a fair bit of research online before making my choice, and bought the Galaxia. Don't be put off by those countless You Tube videos showing people trying them and falling off. I actually did fall off the first time but have not looked back. Relaxation is key and once you get that it's a piece of cake. I've even been able to watch tv whilst on them and retain pretty much full concentration. They are comfortable too and I have not had any knee or back problems as a result. On my first ride on them, immediately after falling off, I did one hour straight and surprised myself. I would definitely recommend these to anyone interested and can say with certainty that they offer a great indoor experience. Way better than the fixed wheel option. Also, don't be put off by the lack of gearing options - your own bike gears are more than enough. Also, apparently, your tyres will not wear and tear as much.

Good work out...

Yes, I recommend this product.
Cons: Expensive
Pretty much the same as the previous reviewer...despite the high price tag I preferred the idea of a trainer that was simple to use rather than one where you had to get a training tyre etc etc. The instructions are pretty basic...although it is simple to put together.
Ok now for the fun bit...getting on your bike is a little tricky because the rollers are 5"-6" higher than what you're used to, so I would recommend you have a solid stable surface on one or both sides of you. To be honest it's probably easier using a regular pedal but I never go the easy option so cycling shoes and cleats it was...at first I held on to the side for support for about the about the first 5 minutes of pedalling, then slowly I upped the gears and let go...I'll warn you now, it's like cycling on ice one bad move and your off, concentrate on looking ahead rather than down, just as if you're riding on a white line, then slowly up the tempo. I've used it about 6 times now and you sweat real good so a towel would be adviseable, I also recommend you ride on a carpet or if it's a smooth surface on a matt of some description as I have come off twice...very funny according to my daughter.
The other little tip, it is a little boring and I find putting a CD album with a running time of about 45 minutes to an hour on as I found I was always clock watching. Truth of it, although expensive you will get many hours use and enjoyment out of it...good luck ;-)

Good intro to rollers.

Posted29 February 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable
Cons: fiddly assembly
First time on rollers and these are a good introduction. The parabolic shape made it easier to stay on track for those challenging first few rides. Cannot compare with other rollers but the slight longitudinal play does give a realistic feel to the ride and probably makes it a little more comfortable.
Only con was it was a little fiddly to assemble with minimalist instructions
