Good price alternative to Garmins, etc

Posted25 September 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality
Had been after a GPS bike computer for a while, but couldn't quite justify the price of the equivalent Garmins, etc. Read good reviews of this so took the plunge. Was a bit of a pain to set up via the PC, but got there in the end. In use, screen is very good even in bright sunlight and buttons and joystick ok when operated with gloves, despite the relatively diminutive size. Can't quite figure out how to use the Training Buddy function but sure I'll figure this out eventually!
Excellent customisable screens with plenty of data available. Be aware that the cadence sensor supplied has to be set for cadence OR speed, can't do both in case you wanted to use on a turbo trainer for instance.
BrytonBridge software ok to use to download/upload routes, but not exactly intuitive. Software and firmware is frequently updated so this might get better in time.
In summary, slightly flawed but great given the price...

Great addition to Sportive Kit

Posted09 August 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great
The instructions and website that go with the Bryton took a bit of working out, but that could be just me! I managed to download and put another sites gps map on the device but I'm not quite sure how!
Once up and running I first tested it out on the Cheshire Plains and Peaks sportive and found the device a huge benefit. I was pleasantly surprised that the battery lasted for the full 7 and a half hours and the mapping kept me on track. I would have got lost without it as I think some of the signs had been moved.
I found the website for uploading a bit confusing so deleted the data I'd collected! but have since worked it out and had no problem on subsequent runs.
The detail of the data collected is excellent. Overall very pleased with the device which I bought with the intention of using in France later this year. Bring on the Pyrennes!

Excelelent little GPSunit, half the price of others

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Looks great
I always hankered after a GPS device for my new road bike partly because I got lost on a ride and didn't want to have to carry maps. However I couldn't justfiy the £400 tag for the Garmin but found this device which is half the price. It does all that I want and while the map routing in London is a bit dodgy (often routes me the wrong way down one way streets) that is not really the device's fault and for out of town stuff it is perfect. I love the fact you can upload routes recorded onto a website and publish them and also plan rotues in advance to follow as well as just tell the device to show you the quickest way home. Also worth getting the heart rate monitor/cadence package just to see how well you are doing (or not). Manual a bit sparce but you get there in the end. One word of warning though when initially setting it up with your PC - you need IE9 or Google Chrome otherwise things just go wrong!!. Oh and don't be afraid of a firmware upgrade the moment it is connected as I have done two (one when bought and one last week) completley painlessly.
Oh and I like the blue colour :-)

Nice idea....if it did what it is intended for!

Posted26 February 2012
No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros: Looks great
Cons: unreliable
Nice looking bit of kit just a shame it does not deliver any one of its functions with reliability.
Firstly the software has issues when loading causing frustration and wasted hours, 3 email exchanges with Bryton with suggested remedies have still failed to resolve it!
Onto the unit itself and where do I start, after 7 rides in 10 days it has failed to complete a route without freezing on multiple occasions and supplying outrageous data at every time including an average speed of 97.5 mph today!
The cadence sensor doesn't work, neither does the HR monitor but still the unit looks nice sat astride my stem!
To conclude the unit doesn't work, is ridiculously unreliable and the online help and support from Bryton extends to;
Have you set it up right? Or reset it! How insightful and helpful!
To conclude, I bought the unit to use multiple functions such as HR monitor, cadence sensor and recordable routes as a means to iimprove my speed.....to date it has done nothing but cause continual irritation, when you are fiddling around on your stem resetting it for the 4th time in 20 minutes because it has frozen again your patience will be tested to the max - save the frustration and avoid like the plague,

Great quality for the price

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight
May not be as good or established as Garmin but the significant price difference makes Bryton a great GPS.
Easy to see and use, customizable and with a good website.
Be aware that if you have a Mac you can not yet link it with the website.
I did have to use their helpline and it was very good.
Overall a happy purchase!
