Lupine Piko = awesome light

Posted16 August 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
I have only had the Piko for a couple of weeks. As far as lights go I guess brighter and lighter (weightwise) is always better and light technology is always moving in this direction. I would rate this light 11 out of 10 for where light technology is at at this point in time.
I use it on my helmet in conjunction with a Lupine Wilma 5 (1100 lumen model) on the bars. I have had the Wilma a couple of years and the Piko complements it perfectly. The eveness of the Pikos beam throughout it's spread is very good.
My Wilma has withstood some atrocious weather and I expect the Piko to be no different.
The build quality of the Piko looks exactly the same as the Wilma which is to say it is excellent.
My only possible concern with the Piko at the moment is that the helmet mount pivot up and down bracket adjustment doesn't seem to be very tight. This being said I haven't noticed it moving while I have been riding so it is probably a non issue.
I have found with my Lupine lights that the spread and eveness of the beam is so good that you can point the light in roughly the correct direction and it still does the job perfectly. This is a massive plus for this light as you don't want to have to spend time adjusting you light ensuring it pointed in exactly the direction required. If a close enough adjustment does the job as well as a perfect adjustment then this means more time riding and less time adjusting, total bonus.
In comparison to previous lights used - Niterider HID Cyclone and Storm combination the Lupines are lighter, brighter, cheaper, and more weather proof.
In comparison to Magicshine - lighter, brighter, more weatherproof, and much more reliable.
Last but not least, when out in the bush in the middle of the night you don't want your lights to stop working for any reason. I don't believe the Piko will ever let me down.
Do yourself a favour if riding at night, buy one.

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great
Cons: Expensive
This is brightest small light money can buy. Build quality is superb and it's incredibly light to mount on a helmet. It's not cheap but it absolutely worth it.

Lupine Piko Helmet mounted

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great
Wow! This is a really amazing piece of kit. It is light (i.e. not heavy) and light (stunning elucidation of the trail in dusky and dark nights. I am really most impressed by it. Easily mounted and easy to use. Easy programming for max, high and low modes as well as flash mode. It gets really hot on Max. so keep going fast! It protects itself by switching to low energy mode and is easily switched back to max mode once operating temp is normal. I really recommend this light. To all the designers and engineers at Lupine: you are brilliant.
