Gore Bike Wear Cosmo Two Way Commuting Jacket

The yellow fabric used for the COSMO High Vis Commuting Jacket has already been tried and tested in industrial workwear and in tough, all-weather sailing garments where it has proved that it offers not only high visibility protection but also durable colour fastness with no colour fade after washing. Turn the jacket inside out and what do you get? The inside of the jacket has been made with a fully seam-sealed grey fabric and is finished with two pockets. This gives it the appearance of a smartly designed waterproof jacket meaning it can be worn not just when cycling but at any time. An additional style feature is the stow-away hood which fits snugly into the high collar.

Fantastic Jacket

PostedMay 23, 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
This is a great jacket for commuting, it does exacltly what it says on the 'tin'. Unlike some of the other reviewers here, I have noticed no problems with the quality of the product, at all. One thing to note however, the jacket is VERY large, I would certainly advise getting a size smaller than the size you would usually get. I have the small size and believe me, I'm not 'slight' by any means and also not Mr. Buff 2012 and it still feels a little larger than I would really be hoping for. I do feel that some of the effectiveness of the Gore-Tex material is lost through having such a large gap between the jacket and my base layer which leads to getting a little hotter than I would've previously expected. Then again, I've been cycling to work for well over a year now and have somehow only managed to puchase a waterproof in the past 3 weeks so perhaps I'm not as clued up on waterproofs as some of you seasoned cyclists out there! The reversibility I do think is a great addition, you do look like a bit of a wally walking around with a hi-vis jacket on the correct way round but the high-vis here is fairly subtle compared to many jackets currently available. Reversed, I personally think it looks quite cool really, quite futuristic in a way! The waterproofing is exceptional and the jacket is extremely lightweight. I would certainly recommend this product to any cyclist, especially at the current sale price. In terms of quality of materials and styling for the price, this jacket is unbeatable. The only reason I've dropped a star is due to the sizing, but this I am sure is personal preference. Enjoy!

Fabulous allrounder

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Looks great
Got this Jacket as an Xmas present and I have to say I think it's fantastic. The overall quality of manufacture is superb and the reversable feature is a nice touch; and something I'm already taking advantage of on the walk to the office once I''ve showered at the gym after my commute. The suprising thing about this jacket is the level of added warmth it has provided me as I make my way across the open fens of the Essex Countryside. The current offer that Evans has of 40% off makes this jacket a no-brainer!!!!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
Cons: Expensive, no side pockets
Apart from the lack of optional ventilation, this jacket is very wind resistant and very dry.

Great visibility, nice cut but very overpriced

PostedNovember 25, 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Looks great
Baggy cut, excellent quality materials and plenty of reflective piping. Reversibility is a joke- the grey inner shell with numerous seams looks eye-catching for the wrong reasons and certainly of appearance that few would be comfortable wearing off the bike. The collar is very squared off and not fleece-lined meaning it causes a frequent irritative rub on your jawbone. Overall a pretty flash commuting jacket and one that I was happy paying around the £150 mark but certainly questionable where the £250 rrp is derived.

Not quite what I expected

PostedMay 2, 2010
No, I do not recommend this product.
Cons: Poor quality, damp arms
I was looking for a waterproof and breathable jacket which would withstand a heavy down-poor and be wind resistant for both cycling and mountain walking. I went to Evens and was recommended this jacket due to its Goretex Pro shell, which I understand is one of the best goretex materials. Naturally I was thrilled to have a jacket which seemed to have all the qualities I needed. It looked good, felt comfortable, and was reversible...
I will first talk about the reversibility. Initially I was quite excited about this; I could wear it as a cycling jacket, turn it the other way, and use it for mountain walking. However, after wearing it on the reversed side I quickly lost this enthusiasm. When cycling with it reversed you sweat a lot. The layers on the Gore don’t quite work both ways. It also looks a bit odd reversed. I was a bit conscious that it looked as though I just had the jacket inside out. , I don’t quite think by just putting the logo and a pocket on the reversed side makes it a reversible jacket.
No real rain arrived within the first 2 weeks of owning this jacket, so I was not sure how waterproof it was. I was not too worried however as the material is of a very good quality...isn’t it?
Sadly not, after just two weeks I noticed quite obvious fraying on the cuffs. I was obviously a bit disappointed in this so I thought about sending the jacket back.
The real test came this week when the heavens opened and the rain came down - heavily. I went for a walk and put on my new Goretex jacket. I was, mostly, bone dry. There was not even a bit of dampness nor chill that you sometimes get through other waterproof jackets. The only bit of dampness came through the cuff. I got home and took the jacket off and after about 10 minutes I went back to the jacket and noticed that the inside of the arms were very wet. Water seemed to have soaked up into the arms. For a jacket of this price and of this Goretex material this should not happen, it could also be very annoying - and on a long walk or cycle in the rain wet arms would get very frustrating.
I took the jacket back to evens based on these floors and got a full refund. Evans customer service was brilliant. The jacket, sadly, for 250£, is not quite good enough. I know this material is of a very high standard, so it may just be a fault with this one jacket.
Hill walking jackets with the same material are a bit more expencive, so this has the potential to be a good, well priced jacket. Sadly, the fraying and the damp arms let it down.
