Excellent frame, average kit

PostedFebruary 19, 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Comfortable, Looks great, pedals well
Cons: press fit bottom bracket
Bought this bike mainly for the frame to upgrade.
Pedals well, doesn't need propedal on the rear shock at all, and there's the old cliche that it pedals lighter than it actually is. Its just under the 30lbs barrier as standard, according to my luggage scales.
Deore kit is ok - average for the price. Formula brakes are excellent. The Recon fork feels solid if a little basic. Not sure about potential durability of the internal press fit bottom bracket though, and also don't know how easy spares will be to source or fit.
The other rave reviews on the Zesty that can be found round the internet are pretty much true; so far this is a good fun, lively bike, especially for 140mm travel.

Great Bike for a Great Price from Evans

PostedFebruary 14, 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Looks great, finds traction
I am glad I went for this bike - I got a great price at the end of 2011 and looking at the 2011 spec, there's not much in it - for £700 less.
My last bike was a Marathon XC bike which is great in its own right but I was getting to like hitting things a bit harder and steeper and really wanted a machine to tackle the "All Mountain" terrain in a more composed manner. And anyway - my old "Sugar" is feeling the strain these days.
My riding is still not up to the bike's abilities but it has bailed me out of a few "out of shape moments" at Glentress and Kirroughtree where my last bike would have pitched me over the bars.
It climbs remarkably well and although I thought I would miss the lockout on the rear shock, it climbs very well and as a fun bike, I don't miss the lockout - no doubt if I was climbing on smooth roads for a while, I would want to stiffen it up but that's not what this bike is about.
The groupset is as slick as my previous XTR stuff (just now) but will clearly carry a slight weight penalty. The brakes are incredible.
I have put a 2.2 Mtn King tyre on the rear (replacing the Race King supplied)to partner the 2.4 up front for this time of year and will get another 2.2 Race King for the front later in the year.
I'm looking forward to doing some backcountry singletrack later in the year!
Heavy? It is compared to my last machine but beats the close competition from Commencal and BMC

Great bike

PostedFebruary 9, 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight
I've had my Lapierre Zesty for a week now and the efficiency is superb great for all mountain riding and trail centres. The forks also have lock out which is a great bonus. I would definitely recommend this as it cope with rocky terrain well. The back tyre lacks a bit of tread compared but this is certainly a benefit when cycling back from the trails

Excellent Bike, excellent deal

PostedJuly 26, 2010
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Looks great
It is a true all rounder, loads of feed back, copes with the rough stuff brilliantly and no significant loss of climbing ability over my usual hardtail, easy to set-up, brakes just get better and better as pads bed-in.
Gets you confidence up in no time, white grips and saddle are a pain to keep clean but worth it for the overall red and white look.
Got a fantastic price promise deal against an online retailer and couldn't fault the shop staff, really enthusiastic bunch.

Fabulous kick-butt machine

PostedJuly 9, 2010
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great, downhill ability, cool appeal
Bought my new pride & joy from Evans this week. Had the bike up at Glentress and it performs magnifico. Its downhill suction to the ground is second to none and the shocks really make this a smooth ride. Its the type of bike that turns heads and one that you can really feel at ease with on even the black run routes on piste in the mountains. Fabulous bike, go try it yourselves if you get a chance.
