Shimano Ultegra 6700 10-speed STI Set - Double

Shift cables are routed under the bar tape: re-development and positioning of the internal mechanism in combination with PTFE coated cables have made this possible, providing faster, lighter and smoother shifting. Ergonomic shift arc follows natural hand movement with inward shift stroke distance reduced for rapid and precise gear changes. Brake lever pivots have been positioned to increase power and improve ergonomics when riding on the hoods. Tuneable reach adjusters enable custom fitment for all hands. Compatible with FlightDeck for efficient training.

Fantastic Upgrade

Pros: Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great, Comfortable
I was in two minds, buy a new machine or upgrade the groupset on my trek madone. It was already kitted out in Ultegra but it was 6 years old.
Having test rode a few newer bikes I soon realised my frame couldn't be topped for speed, cornering, comfort, so in stages I have upgraded to Ultegra 6700.
The new levers make the bike, changing is precise, the ergo shape means one finger changing when in the drop is very easy so you don't loose your position on the bike and just to make things even better is the internal cable routing, making the front end of the bike look slick without the cables out front (see pic). The levers offer two cabling routes so you can work out what is best for your frame layout, I would recommend taking your time on install, the old adage of measure twice and cut once when routing the cables, if you are like me and want everything precise, it is worth it in the end.
I did the usual of browsing the net for the best deal, but once again Evans came up trumps, with speed and price.

Shimano quality, works when you need it

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Comfortable, Looks great
Cons: Heavy, Expensive
This shifter although a bit on the heavier side is durable, and works flawlessly.
The package comes with cables for both brakes and gears.
Shifts are crisp and work with precision. The only downside i could see is that they are a tad heavy compared to others out there like SRAM and Campagnolo.

New pivot point good feel, lighter, looks good

Posted16 January 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
Cons: Expensive
I upgraded from my (broken) Shimano 105 STI levers to these Ultegra (carbon) ones. I was concerned about the "dotted line" compatibility with the 105 brakes, and the varying reviews on the web about this combination having less braking power.
So far I have only fitted the left (rear brake / front gear), so I can't comment much on the shifting, but the down change appears to have less (violent) "click" than for the 105 = better. So far as braking I would not say it's worse, it's different, the power probably is less (as least initally during the squeeze) but the feel is much better, much less off/on as for the 105, and still able squeeze hard if required.
New "hidden" cabling gives much cleaner look to the handle bars.
105 are probably better value for money, if you can get them at fair price, I got these on special so they were cheaper than buying 105 from the LBS.

Great Shifters

Posted24 February 2010
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great
These were a replacement, along with the Ultegra groupset, to upgrade the Tiagra that was on the bike. The shifting is wonderfully smooth and precise. The step up from Tiagra is amazing. The newly designed hoods are much more comfortable on long distance rides. Very simple to fit and having both cables run under the bar tape is a real bonus as it looks much tidier. Highly recommended.
