Nice tires

PostedSeptember 6, 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, good traction, straight casing
Cons: roll badly
The Clutch SX had great traction and pretty sturdy sidewalls when considering the weight. Comparing to my previous Big Betty (Trailstar compound) they where meatier, but slightly smaller in size. The tires where also very straight
However the tires do roll fairly badly which I guess is to be expected with such a sticky compound.

Heavy duty!

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Looks great
Cons: Heavy, slow
Bought these tyres as I wanted to revert back to some Specialised rubber for my Stumpy. Have been on the Maxxis High Rollers recommended by the MBR guys (which were very good, very quick, but somehow made the bike look a little inferior), but these looked a little like the orginal Resolutions the bike came supplied with. Slotted these meaty brutes onto my rims and went for a spin. Couldn't believe how knackered I was on one of my standard routes! Whereas previously I could hit 30mph on some DH sections, on these I was busting a blood vessel to get to 25! So have opted for a lighter weight set of 'The Captain's which are much easier on the lungs in the summer months.
These are heavy tires. They look great and have plenty of grip though and will be invaluable in the claggy mud of the winter season on some rain-driven hillside doubletrack, but if you're after something a little lighter and quicker, try The Captain or Resolution from Specialized, or Maxxis High Rollers.
