SRAM PG-990 9 Speed Cassette - Colour

Tough just got tougher- Sram's PG-990 cassette is made from steel for increased strength complete with anodised alloy spider and a forged 7000 alloy lock ring.

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great
This cassette cost less than my last PG970 and is lighter, prettier and slicker on the changes somehow. What a shame it's caked in mud so much of the time but at least the open chassis makes it easier to clean.

Excellent, but expensive.

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
I'm using the PG-990 for two years now, including a chain replacement and the lower ring (11t) replacement.
The Cassette is excellent. It's durable, it shifts well under all conditions, and the compatibility of the lower ring with Shimano is a big plus - that way I replaced only one ring instead of the whole cassette (unfortunately, SRAM lower rings are very hard to come by, if not impossible altogether).
The cassette proved itself plenty strong. It got bashed once or twice, went through mud and grime without a hitch. The bigger rings, which I don't use as much, will probably last a few more years, and even the colour of the internal spider looks almost new.
I've been using the XT 770 cassette too, and Didn't notice much difference, if any. Both are excellent, and both are durable.
The PG-990 Looks nicer (Red spider!), and the XT is slightly lighter (295g vs. 304g on my scales, both 11-34).
The only thing preventing the PG-990 from getting five stars is the fact that at the moment it costs almost 40% more. At that price, I'd get the XT. But if you manage to get hold of the PG-990 on a sale at Evans - you won't regret it.

Excellent Cassette

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
I have used these for a few years now and find them to be slightly superior in terms of shifting performance to Shimano M770 XT cassettes. Feels like a more substantial carrier too (and less seperate pieces than the PG-980 cassette, which can be very unkind to Hope Pro II freewheel bodies...). Relatively light at 304g on my scales. Best get it price matched for 50% of the RRP or better though...

Great Cassette

A good cassett - and you can't turn down that bling! I actually have bought both the 32 and 34 versions of these. I would definitely recomend the 32 - I suspect that the 34 is just a little low for me.
Slick smooth gear changes and seems to wear pretty well too.
