Good standard replacement Mech

PostedMay 31, 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality
They have changed the thread for the braze-on mount slightly so it is harder to over torque which is a nice touch (no change to the instalation). The mech is a fairly entry level piece of kit which is what you would expect for the price, but shifts well when properly mounted, aligned and tensioned.
Delivery was fast and product was as described. So thanks

Great value for money

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality
This front mech is well made and great value for money. The spring feels strong and the pull mechanism felt very positive.

Good price

PostedFebruary 15, 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value
Bought to replace the front derailleur on my Giant SCR3 road bike. 2 minor issues stopped it being 5 stars. Firstly the chain guide does not split (it is rivetted) so the chain has to be split to fit. Secondly the bolt to attach the unit to the frame is not long enough so i had to fit it without the supplied chamfered washer. However, it is securely fitted without this. Once fitted it works like a dream so overall I am satisfied, especially at the price.

Tremendous Sevice, Cracking Piece Of Kit

PostedOctober 7, 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
I recently switched frames and the new frame was braze on so I needed a braze on front mech. My kit is Shimano Sora so I contacted a famous bike shop in NI and spoke to a customer service agent and he found me a sora triple braze on front mech. Well, this front mech wouldn't work with my chain set, the inner guide just caught on the middle ring and I couldn't get it high enough on the braze on to rectify this. So I put Shimano Triple Braze on Front Mech into google and it came up with this item. I bought it and it arrived next day which was brilliant and twenty minutes later everything up and running and biking again. You can't get better than that. Next time I need some kit I'll go straight to Evans' site.

Sora Triple replacement

PostedJuly 6, 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality
Cons: product number on website slightly wrong
Bought as a replacement for my Sora front mech as the new Sora wasn't compatible. Fitted fine, straightforward. Not too heavy considering the price and looks like will go the distance.
The triple I bought was a Shimano 2303 incidentally (if you end up looking through the Shimano website to find one that is compatible with your chainset - remember to check that the difference in teeth between the top and middle and top and bottom chainrings are compatible, otherwise the mech will snag on your middle chainring).

Useful pre-SIS Replacement

PostedJune 18, 2011
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value
I bought this to replace a Shimano Acera front mech from the mid-80s. I was slightly disappointed by the lack of choice in sizing (having to use an insert for traditional-sized seat tubes). This was compensated for by shifting range - it copes well with the rather strained chain-line I have now. My initial fears that the cable would impinge on the mechanism were unfounded.
The design is unfussy in brushed alloy with no unsightly black plastic or anodizing. It's a good price to keep an older bike on the road.
