Excellent security

Posted04 November 2013
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, heavy duty
More concerned now about somebody stealing the railings that I chain my bike to than this lock getting broken. Thankfully I only had to carry it to my work once and I can leave it there now as it is heavy duty - but that is exactly what I wanted.

Solid Chain

Posted30 December 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, robust
Cons: Heavy
Both the chain and the lock feel strong, robust and resilient.
The chain is long enough to loop through the frame and back wheel before fixing to the proverbial immovable object.
It is quite heavy, but that is the price paid for resilience.
Nothing is of course totally secure, but this chain and lock do provide a reasonable reassurance that they will do their job if attacked by those who feel your property should be theirs.

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: looks a solid and secure lock to deter thieves.
Cons: Heavy, Expensive
I bougth this to secure my new mountain bike to the car when on a holiday in Scotland. I wanted something that I could rely on to be able to leave the bike and come back later and find it still there. The lock is just long enough to go through the frame and round the roof rack and I was also able to put a strong cable through the wheels with the loop going through the lock.
It is a bit fiddley to fix but only takes two or three minutes and gave me peace of mind.
It is expensive however and too heavy to carry around.

Other locks are probably jealous

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Looks great
Cons: Heavy, Expensive
This lock is heavy and seemingly indestructible. I bought it for my new Specialized Roubaix and it gives a lot of peace of mind - it ways about the same as the bike - but that's the trade off for maximum security! And I have to take off the front wheel to secure everything together. I tend to leave it at work; I don't really want to lug it about on long pleasure rides.
For all you lock geeks (like me) you will love the actual pad lock, with its smooth solid mechanism and the key with a blue light for use in the dark.
If your bike is worth a lot, and/or is precious to you, I highly recommend this lock. But be warned, it's very heavy.

Does what it says on the tin?

Posted16 October 2010
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality
Cons: Heavy
Hope it does anyway - it certainly feels solid though the shaft on the lock is longer and more exposed than some products which I guess might make it a bit more vulnerable- but they do tend to be even heavier. Light however it is not and to be honest just a few more cms of chain to capture both wheels would have been great.

Heavy and solid

Posted14 July 2010
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Looks great
Cons: Heavy, Expensive
This chain and lock feels very heavy and looks strong. I make the same journey to work each day and so can leave this (and an additional lock) outside my work. I would not want to carry it. The key mechanism is smooth and I haven't had any problems with locking/unlocking. It is not long enough to go through two wheels so if you don't remove your front wheel when leaving your bike as I don't and you're worried about theft of your wheel then I would use an addition D-lock or cable. However, this is one of the sturdiest looking locks that I have seen and as such if your bike is with lots of others it is unlikely to be a first choice for stealing.
