Resourceful read

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value
All the essential knowledge for self trained cyclists are there, most useful aid to help in crafting personal training plan comparing to other training books. Highly recommended.
PS: usually no authors will custom make a training programme for you unless you hire a personal trainer.

Waffle, charts and little else

No, I do not recommend this product.
I really cannot recommend this book at all, there is a lot of talk about increasing your lactate threshold but no detailed guidance on how to to do it. There are utterly pointless diagrams and charts in great abundance and a good deal of verbose text that tells gives you very little idea of how to structure your training to achieve the greatest possible gain. If there is any real point to this book it is completely lost on me!
I have found 'The Time Crunched Cyclist' by Chris Carmichael to be much more helpful.
