I needed a front pannier rack as the child seat I had on the back prevented me from using a rear rack.
I have a Scott Sportster P3 (hybrid) with suspension forks and 700c wheels. I initially bought a Blackburn Low-Rider after my LBS assured me it would fit. I found the Blackburn very fiddly to fit and eventually gave up. Due to the size of my wheels, the bar which goes over the top was almost rubbing on the tyre.
I then found the Tubus Ergo on the internet (similar to the Tara). It was almost twice the price of the Blackburn, but what a difference. It was an absolute breeze put on and fitted perfectly, even with my suspension forks and big wheels.
I have now had getting on for four years faultless service from the rack. It is strong, fits securely and reasonably light.
My kids are too big to go on the back of my bike now, but I see no reason to switch to a rear rack. I soon got used to having panniers on the front and more often than not only use one. I don't really notice any affect on the steering.
This is a high quality product. It's not cheap, but as the review title says, you get what you pay for.
