Good idea

Posted02 August 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, great idea
Bought this for my AM bike as can't fit bottle cages on my downtube. But doesn't fit my 31.6 seatpost that well, mounting ring was too small

Perfect for fitting a water bottle cage.

Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great
I bought this for my wife's bicycle which did not have anywhere to fit a waterbottle cage. I found the bracket very fiddly to fit and in the end had to trim the plastic buffer for the seatpost clip in order to fit it. Having said that, once installed, it looks good and is fit for purpose. It comes with bolts for the cage so don't order them separatetly as I did!

Decent idea for alternative bottle mounting

Posted05 March 2012
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good quality, Lightweight
Cons: Unattractive, fiddly
I purchased this for my girlfriends Step Through Hybrid/Comfort bike.Giant Cyrpess 2. This bike has no mountings for bottle cages at all. We weren't keen on mounting to handlebars so looked for other things. This thing is quite fiddly & will take a bit of time to fit correctly. As with the other reviews this item can only hold so much weight. 1 x water bottle full of water would be maximum. Good product if you are looking to mount a cage behind the seat. Comes with 2 x steel seat tube bands(25mm-28mm) (28mm-32mm). Does not leave any room for under saddle bag. So decide first if you rather the bag or bottle cage!!!!! Has two grooves down the side at the top of plastic bracket for Topeak Wedge bags ONLY.........but!!! You can only mount 1 item at a time. The cage or the bag.

Theoretically you could mount 2 of these ...

...1 on top of another and position them 90 degrees apart so one could hold a bottle and another a saddle bag, no? Just a thought.
If my idea is not doable, then Topeak has a small toolbag that straps around the top tube - one version near the headset and another near the seattube.

Does the job....but!

No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: not one of topeaks better adaptors
This is the first item I have bought from Evans that I have not been able to recommend. I have the large Topeak wedge saddle pack which also carries my back light clipped to the loop on it's rear. After upgrading my solid seatpost to a suspension version, I bought this adaptor to allow me to keep using the wedge pack. But in order to keep the rear light facing back, the SPP Fixer needs to be horizontal. Instead of holding the pack stable, the whole assembly bounced around, which I can live with, but because the central friction hinge is not captive, the two halves eventually worked loose and the seat pack and rear light parted company from my bike, damaging both of them. I have used it since, with the allen bolt tightened as hard as possible, but I find myself constantly feeling back to make sure it's still attached. It might work fine with lighter packs, but I think it's days are numbered on my bike.

Practical idea

Posted10 December 2009
Yes, I recommend this product.
Pros: Good value, Lightweight, good idea
For my Scott Genius that is without screw holes for bottle cage, this is a good idea however limited to the weight it can carry. A top brace bar would be ideal to enable heavy light battery to be carried.
